WHAT TO INCLUDE

A comedian invoice that gets paid.

Every UK invoice needs a unique number, your name and address, the client’s name and address, the date, a description of the work, the amount and how to pay. Then for comedians:

  1. 01

Invoice the company, not the night

Clubs often trade under a show name. Ask who the invoice should be made out to before the gig.

  2. 02

    One line per spot

Headline, MC and extra spots on separate lines make the fee easy to approve.

  3. 03

    Travel on its own line

If travel was agreed, list it separately so it isn’t lost in the fee.

  4. 04

    Send it tonight

Invoices sent within 24 hours get paid fastest. The promoter still remembers the show.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Know the details.

Practical answers about invoicing as a comedian.

How to invoice as a comedian in the UK
Do comedians need to send invoices?

Yes, for most club and promoter work. Even if the venue pays on the night, an invoice marked paid gives you both a record for tax.

Should I charge VAT as a comedian?

Only if you are VAT-registered, which is required once your taxable turnover passes £90,000 in a rolling 12 months. Most comedians are below it.

How do I save this comedian invoice as a PDF?

Fill in the form, then choose Save as PDF. Your browser’s print window opens with only the invoice on the page; pick “Save as PDF” as the destination. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Is there a faster way to do this every time?

Yes. StagePay remembers your details, your clients and your usual lines, so a comedian invoice takes about twenty seconds on your phone, and it tracks which invoices have been paid. It is free to start.
